Huawei’s next-generation flagship line now rebranded as the Huawei Pura 80 Series is gearing up for launch with major upgrades in design, camera, and hardware. The Pura lineup replaces the former P-series and will continue Huawei’s legacy of pushing the boundaries of mobile photography and premium styling. The Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, and Pura 80 Ultra are expected to launch with an ultra-modern curved design, symmetrical aesthetics, and Huawei’s signature XMAGE camera system, refined for 2025.
Kirin 9010 Chipset & HarmonyOS NEXT Power the Core
The entire Pura 80 series will be powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9010 5G chipset, built on a 7nm process. Early benchmarks suggest it offers strong everyday performance and AI capabilities, though not aimed at gaming benchmarks like Snapdragon or Dimensity flagships. The phones will run on HarmonyOS NEXT, Huawei’s full-stack OS that no longer relies on Android kernels or Google services. It promises a faster UI, improved app sandboxing, and full Chinese ecosystem integration.
XMAGE Camera Tech with Large Sensor Power
The Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra will continue to push Huawei’s leadership in smartphone photography. Expect a triple camera setup with a main sensor of up to 50MP, coupled with ultra-wide and periscope telephoto lenses with advanced OIS and variable aperture support. The Pura 80 Ultra may introduce a liquid lens or retractable camera design, making it a standout in mobile zoom photography. Huawei’s XMAGE 2.0 image engine will enhance AI scene optimization, portrait clarity, and low-light details a key edge over competitors.
Satellite Connectivity & High-End Display
The Pura 80 Series is expected to continue supporting satellite calling and messaging in China, a feature previously seen in the Mate 60 Pro. This makes the Pura series highly appealing for business users and travelers. The phones are tipped to feature a 6.8-inch curved OLED panel with 1.5K resolution, LTPO refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, and ultra-thin bezels, offering a truly immersive visual experience.
Expected Launch Timeline and Global Rollout
The Huawei Pura 80 Series is likely to launch in China in Q4 2025, with the Ultra variant possibly arriving a bit later. While a global launch remains uncertain due to trade restrictions, Huawei may offer the phones in select markets with AppGallery ecosystem instead of Google Play. Pricing will likely start from premium mid-range levels for the base Pura 80 and move into flagship pricing for the Ultra.
